The Raven kickstarts their Genesis Tour tonight at The Vault, Kolkata!

New-Delhi based experimental prog-rock quintet The Raven to kickstart their long-awaited 10-city Genesis Tour 2018 from The Vault in Kolkata tonight at 7 pm. While the tour starts off in Kolkata and ends at The Pianoman Jazz Club in Delhi on 12th of July, it lasts a total of 42 days circling around the North-Eastern part of the country making cities like Siliguri, Kalimpong, Gangtok, Shillong, Guwahati, Kohima, and Imphal a big part of the tour.

“The Raven is something you don’t normally hear. The sound of the band comes from all four members being brought up by different genres, and the lyrics are based on the emotions and situations surrounding us. We generally don’t have a fixed genre, if you happen to watch us live you’ll understand, but if we have to label ourselves then it would Experimental prog rock.

We think of ourselves as people who wanna end the mainstream battle of being an indie band being bullied by the commercial and pop-culture or to be precise show people the actual power of independent music”, the band quoted.

The Raven is Tsemola, Nugen, Andrew & Craig.

Tsemola Decchen, the vocalist of the band likes to portray the dark side of life and painful emotions through her songs. Her love for music started at the age of 12 and has kept her going ever since. She is known for her straight face.

Nugen Nathan, the drummer, balances the band’s music through his vibrant and happy demeanor. You’ll spot him dancing if he isn’t drumming.
Andrew Kamei, the lead guitarist completes the songs with his beautiful guitar licks. He’s the quietest one in the band but has the most brilliant sense of humor.
Craig Dominic Pinto, the bassist makes all the compositions feel just right. He believes music is all you need. He has been playing music professionally for the last 5 years and plans to do it all his life.

The band has been working on few materials which they plan to release singles/EP by the fall of this year.  Check out their lyrics video of ‘Fix Me’ on YouTube or their demos on Sound Cloud. So, if your city is also a part of the tour, don’t miss out on them bunch!

Re-defining Meraki.

Meraki (Mee- Rah-Kee)
(v.) to do something with soul, creativity, or love; to put something of yourself into work.
The word ‘meraki’ definitely bears an intense yet captivating meaning to it and also sounds strongly alluring to the ears when we actually say it.
At Meraki Studios, we define ‘our’ meraki as:
(v.) to do or help someone do something with soul, creativity, or love; to put something of yourself into work or into supporting others with their works.
