Meraki
Training Academy
Train with purpose. Teach with confidence
More than just a qualification At Meraki Training Academy, we don’t believe great instructors are created by simply learning a list of exercises.
Our training focuses on how to teach, how to observe, cue, progress, regress, program and confidently work with the body in front of you. You will learn the repertoire, but you will also develop the skills that make an instructor exceptional.

Learn from the Founder
Charlie Carvalho founded Meraki Studios and Meraki Training Academy after more than 12 years of teaching Pilates across the UK, Hong Kong and Barbados.
Her approach combines classical foundations with contemporary movement, with a strong emphasis on precision, progression and understanding the purpose behind every exercise.
After years of teaching clients and mentoring instructors, Charlie created the Academy because she wanted teacher training to go beyond simply learning repertoire.
Great teaching is about understanding why you are choosing a movement, what you are looking for in the body in front of you, and how to adapt, progress and regress that movement with confidence.
That philosophy sits at the heart of every Meraki course.
The aim is not to create instructors that all teach the same way. it is to develop thoughtful, knowledgable teachers who understand the method deeply enough to find their own voice.
Learn the movement. Understand the purpose. Teach the person.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Yes! For all of our training, a recognised Mat Pilates qualification is required. This ensures you already have a strong understanding of the Pilates principles, before progressing on the equipment.
-
Our courses go beyond learning the repertoire. We focus on the why behind the movement — helping you to understand what you’re teaching, what you are looking for in the body, how to adapt, progress, regress with confidence. In our reformer teacher training course we also include observation and teaching hours, giving you the chance to see hoe real classes are managed and gradually put your own teaching into practise.
Our aim is for you to finish your training and feel genuinely prepared, not just qualified on paper - so that the day you teach your very first class you feel confident to do so!
-
Training is kept intentionally small so every trainee receives individual feedback, practical teaching time and the opportunity to ask questions throughout the course!
What People Are Saying
‘I did the tower training at Meraki which was comprehensive and detailed. The content was a mixture between detailed booklet information and face to face training which allowed me to gain confidence in setting up the equipment safely and delivering class plans with ease. Would highly recommend’
Kaylee“Charlie is an experienced ,knowledgeable and charismatic Master Trainer
The Tower Training was clear and well put across and it was one of my favourites courses and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience , came away with the knowledge and confidence to share with my
clientele and would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to add to their teaching repertoire
The manual was an added bonus and the exercises true to the Pilates Method
I think it’s also important having a studio and mentor to go to as the course is just the first step in the journey and Charlie is able to provide the ongoing support and practice necessary to become a teacher of value”
